@natanyagrad, Khand was a land east of Mordor below Rhûn, in the Haradwaith, where some of the Wainriders possibly came from. Khand was right next to Nùrn, which probably causes the confusion. Nùrn was the southern half of mordor, past a small mountain range that separated it and the plateau of Gorgoroth. Khand had easy access to Mordor, which is why Sauron conquered the Eastern tribes so that he couldnt be invaded from there. In Nùrn there is the Lake Nurnen, a remnant of the Inland Sea of Helcar, where the Valar made their first home on an island before Melkor destroyed it. In the bay of Cuiviénen of Helcar is where the elves awoke.
