Two New Ranks Coming to MCME!

I know a lot of people think these ranks are mundane, unnecessary etc. Just want to add my two cents in.
I personally had no input and therefore am saying I have no opinion of the new build related ranks. If it helps it helps, and that's great. If it doesn't the rank will eventually get removed as previous ranks have been. I'm personally here to assist any build ranks with document organisation as needed so for example I hope I helped Darki with his To do list and BWOT with a project progress sheet

In regards to the rank bestowed upon myself (Assistant Operations) I want to say the following:
I have always been the one organising Events and Staff documents since they first became a thing with Iru.
Guides only started running Events when I was a Guide. I simply asked for other guides help and it was never part of our job description on the server. If anyone remembers I helped Iru with the Summer Events and Anniversary Events in 2014-2016.
During that time I also jumped between Foreman and Enforcer. Regardless of my rank I helped organise these events and had help from both guides and staff.
My understanding is Guides were purely designed to provide tours and help new players with the addition of Mini-Games.

I'm sure a lot of people still don't feel like this should be a rank for myself and that's fine. I honestly didn't mind either way and made it clear during any consultation of this rank. I was still going to help plan this year's Summer Events, I was still going to help maintain and update staff documents, I was still going to be involved with this server in organising any way I felt I could.

Some people weren't too happy that I was involved in Staff docs now I was no longer staff (having retired from Enforcer) but I didn't feel like I should be re promoted to a rank such as Designer or Foreman just so I can help with some organisation. Additionally, being able to help with server meetings and plan Events within the Staff Forums is mighty useful.
If you guys really want to destroy this rank I am more than happy to be demoted back to commoner again as long as you can accept that I will and am involved with staff organisation and have been for many years and that being commoner makes my job harder.

If you guys want to ask questions or argue about my particular rank bestowed upon myself I am more than happy to answer any and all conversations over PM or discord (this thread is already getting pretty long) but I would like to hope and promise some more awesome and frequent events throughout the year (planned and executed at a high standard) and get us more involved in other servers and promotions. Thank you!!

I think the real problem here, as I mentioned in Discord is that these ranks or whatever you want to call them will be confusing and bloated. There's no denying that fact, regardless of if opinions are shifted positively towards creating them, they are confusing.

Look, I used this example in Discord yesterday. If I'm a line cook at a restaurant and also specialize in making salads I'm not a Salad Assistant Line Cook, I'm a Line Cook. If Im a designer that can do really well with Voxel, In not a Voxel Lead Designer, I'm a designer. My full title I hope to achieve in my career is Core Architect and Systems Specialist, but if Im asked what I do, I'm a Network Tech. It's simple and it works. These aren't ranks, these are job descriptions.

If I'm a line cook at a restaurant and also specialize in making salads I'm not a Salad Assistant Line Cook, I'm a Line Cook.
And I completely understand in regards to the build ranks, I'm only saying that with my rank I was not going to act as a designer or an enforcer just to organise events and files.
Should I just be the rank commoner but go to staff meetings? Like do you get where I'm coming from?
If someone wants to help with server publicity I feel that my role and Media Assistant are fantastic new ranks that help make it visible that its our main focus and they can come to us to help with it.

I feel like I need to justify myself now, after everything I have read I can tell some of you are not impressed that I'm BWOT's assistant, I'm BWOT's assistant because he asked me to be his assistant, no other reason, no bias, nothing, I know how to organise everything and Liz and I have been working behind the scenes for quite a while now helping BWOT out and now its 'official' It really can't come as much of a surprise as I've been called an assistant for months now.

As stated, I will not be having any influence on the building aspect of MCME, as you are all aware I am not the best builder so I should not and will not affect any decisions due to my poor building skills.

I am helping to organise their projects and meetings, not leading any projects as I am not a builder.

That is for the Lead builders, Designers and Vala to handle. It could lead to bias if I was able to influence promotions, which I am not by the way, and I could suggest the promotions of my friends, which would not be fair on anyone else on MCME, therefore I will not be influencing promotions whatsoever.

I'm an assistant, I'm helping BWOT but not with the building aspect, that is for the Lead Builders, Designers etc to handle. I do not wish to help with any building projects as I'm not interested in building as much anymore, so it would be a waste of time and resources if I was to become a new 'Head builder/Head Designer' like some have suggested.

I'm basically there to manage google docs, and schedule meetings, all that means is more progress, so I don't know why anyone would want to oppose progress ad a lot of people on MCME complain about the lack of progress in recent weeks.
I'm not a builder as previously stated I am pretty poor at building, when I was an artist I produced just about Ok designs and I questioned why I was an artist for a long time, so again I reiterate, due to this and many factors I will not lead projects!

I hope this answers some of the questions surrounding my Assistant portion of the rank, and I just want us all to let this have a chance. if it doesn't work, then we can always revert to the old system we had. Also I cannot speak about the Lead Builder rank or any of the other Assistant ranks but this is my personal view on my own rank.

Now, I don't doubt that there are a few with intent to insult/question the people who recieve these ranks and badges. So I do apologize if my comment came off that way. Ifsomeone has earned these ranks, fair enough. But a lot of these ranks are attributed to players in game, and reflect processes that are done mainly outside the game. Are we all certain these ranks, titles, badges, whatever you call them are entirely necessary as an in game reward and part of the in-game ranking system? I think most of these objections are to that point. Thanks to everyone who has at least tried to adress them.

You guys disagree very much, and so do many staffmembers as well. I think we can agree on that it's nice to have some things organized, but as I read through these arguments and comments, I get the understanding of that several of these people already did these tasks from before, so this is only adding titles to their names, as some reward. Well, some new tasks have also been implemented, like the Lead Builder ranks; perhaps they are needed, maybe not. Personally, I would just have 1-2 Designer(s) to do these, without making 3 completely new ranks for them.
Now, for the assistants: it appears to me that they do not do anything different now from what they did before. The only change is that they got their own rank, and staffmembership ontop of that. If they do such a great job, thats cool, and all thanks to them, but I personally think making personal ranks and giving out staffmemberships just like that is not helping them do their rasks; its just giving them credits (yes, I know you say you didnt ask for it). Therefor I support the argument that they shouldnt be own ranks in-game, as they dont do anything ingame, they're just there as titles.
Staffmembership is also really not needed tbh, as when non-staffmembers have been invited to staffmeeting before without any problems.
So perhaps an "Assistant" rank on the forums would be the only thing needed (with access to staff documents/files) as this is the only platform where they will be doing their rank's tasks.
(Nothing personal against the people of these ranks).

out of interest what happens when a assistant like super steps down, who will recive the rank after to help bwot sort stuff out, will he go looking for a new assistant or what? Cause organizing stuff like that isnt seems to be a job not many would do.

I guess if there was someone else to fill the position then yeah, but if there wasn't we would just not have the role (still the rank). And I would be forced to do more work again for a period till there is someone who can fill in.
