Opening Statement
For me and probably for other countries' people too this week was the last one before its again time to go back to university for another semester. I really enjoyed the week both on and off MCME, hope that was the case for all of you too, whether having holidays or not.
So whatever awaits you next week, sit back and enjoy the last moments of this weekend by reading this week's Times.

Project Progress
Calembel (/warp Caletemp)
Annúminas (In Progress) - Lead: @Wollip666
Builders are back in town! Some smaller and bigger additions here and there and many new house outlines have been added.
Calembel (In Progress) - Lead: @Ivan1pl
The house Freebuild on Plotworld has been used actively this week and has brought forth many nice houses. It is still open for adventurers and up! Beside that another unique wall style has been developped and brought to town succesfully.
Dol Amroth (In Progress) - Lead: @Demonataz
Artists were once more busy and built some more houses, along with the new wool outlines for the palace of Dol Amroth this sums up this week's progress in this city. Be excited, because (maybe!) Demon will soon delight us with a build competition!
Edhellond (In Progress) - Lead: @_Luk
All buildings are standing at their final position now, current task is giving the village a last portion of love and detail, only to afterwards inevitably confront it with the stains of cruel time.
Lebennin (In Progress) - Lead: @wodleth
- no progress this week -
Lossarnach (In Progress) - Lead: @Tyranystrasz
- no progress this week -
Misty Mountains (In Progress) - Lead: @Finrod_Amandil
I don't think there ever was a week with so many jobs in Middle-Earth's biggest mountain ridge: Five glaciers have been completed and a nice cave shaped by the Nimrodel has been furnished with a large number of stalagmites and stalactites. I especially want to highlight the help of @mullerl, he did dig rivers for hours, shaped the falls of nimrodel and was a great help on the glacier jobs. Thank you very much muller!
Explore that (not yet entirely finished) area by typing /warp Falls of Nimrodel
Pelargir (In Progress) - Lead: @Credoo
It was really tempting, taking Pelargir as build of the week twice in a row, just because the enormous theatre of @Thatruben is so amazing... If you haven't checked that out yet, what are you waiting for!? Next to that building, wool outlines keep getting turned into full-grown houses in an unstoppable manner.
Public Projects:
Agar and Udul (In Progress) - Lead: @Mandos
- no progress this week -
Bandit / Traveler Camps (In Progress) - Lead: @PINT00
The first camp could already be finished, all the others are marked out. Currently theres a Freebuild running where everyone can contribute tents for these camps.
Ethring (In Progress) - Lead: @AWOL777
While it once looked like it would only be a really small settlement, a couple more house outlines have been added and it clearly seems like turning into a proper town now.
Lothlórien Vegetation (In Progress) - Lead: @yourie98
Great progress in the golden wood! The entirety of Caras Galadhon is finished and over a dozen sections are ready for a job. So expect some of these in the coming week!
Shire Trees (In Progress) - Lead: @kisos
The project is moving at a slow but steady pace, and 3 of the 4 treebuilds in the plotworld map are almost finished. The final, wych elm treebuild, does not have close to the necessary amount of trees yet, so here any help by adventurers would be very much appreciated. Moving forward, there are hopes to start re-treeing many of the shire farms on the map.
Be sure to check whether there are still any public projects left to claim or join. New ones may get added at any time!

Edhellen mi Ennorath - Elvish in Middle-Earth
Part 5 - Tengwar: Sindarin Consonants
Theres a fundamental difference between our latin script and the Tengwar: The Tengwar is a phonological script. This means, every character of the Tengwar represents a specific sound, thus a certain Tengwa is always pronounced the same way. Just compare the letter "e" and how it is pronounced in english: When looking at words like bed, lure or mere you quickly realise theres many ways of pronouncing that letter in english.
The Tengwar can be used for many different languages. Tolkien attested it for Quenya, Sindarin, Númenórean, Black Speech and English, but one can also adapt the principles of the Tengwar on other languages like German. As each of these languages requires a different set of sounds, the Tengwar are used slightly different for every language. In this lesson we will have a look at the basic letters for Sindarin, as it was used in the 3rd Age in Gondor.
The table seen above is directly taken from the Appendix E of the Lord of the Rings and it depicts all of the consonants of the Tengwar. Unlike with our latin script the Tengwar aren't ordered in something like an alphabet but rather in a very subtle table. Every column and row has a very specific phonological meaning: For example contains the first column all dental sounds, these are sounds that are created using the teeth, then the topmost row contains only plosives, sounds that are made by closing the mouth and then explosively releasing the accumulated air. Thus the letter in the first column and first row has the sound [ t ]. However this principle applies only for the first six rows, everything below is ordered differently.
But enough of the boring talk, here is what these signs mean in the Sindarin of the 3rd Age:
Now I hope you have quite some questions left when you study that table. But these will have to wait until next week where I will also introduce the vowels and some other characters. Next week you should be able to be fully able to read and write Sindarin texts!>========================================================================<

@DarthRagnar's Two-Years as Guide Anniversary Tour
As many of you are aware, I have been a Guide for quite some time. Nearly two years in fact. To mark this momentous occasion, I will be holding a special tour. Normally, my tours are mainly about Tolkien lore, but this tour will consist mainly of stories from my time on MCME. I will cover all the time I've been a member of MCME, from when I first joined to the present day. This special tour will take place on Feb. 20th at 10PM GMT (4PM CST). I hope that many of you will join me in celebrating all the good times we've had together and I look forward to all the good times to come.
Short Story Contest: @Tyranystrasz organised a Short Story Contest. Until the 29th of march you can submit your fan-fiction based on Arda / Tolkiens Lore. The winner can win a gift card and the 3 best stories get featured here in the Times!
For more info read >>this post<<
Times Feedback: Have a thought concerning the presentation of the MCME Times and how it can be improved? Because we are always looking for new ways to mix up and improve the Times experience through any means necessary and, if you have a comment or concern, it's likely that someone else had it as well and just didn't say anything about it. So be sure to message @Finrod_Amandil your thoughts through a PM or directly in this thread.

Closing Statement
I often encounter people on the server asking what we're going to work on after Gondor, what we gonna do with the server when its done or whether we will ever recreate the Undying Lands. There is no answer to these questions before we get to the point when we have to do the decision. Matching that I'll let you start into the next week with the following quote:
“I don't know what lies ahead, but I want to keep going forever...”
