~The MCME Times~ #22/15 - Nai serë rainessë Christopher Lee.

Opening Statement

You all heard the woefull news about the passing of Christopher Lee, who has incoporated Saruman in both the LotR and Hobbit trilogy, and we all know that noone else could have topped his awesome performance.
We paid tribute to this legendary man by dedicating a village in Gondor to him, and named it Lindemar, the town of the singer (as Christopher Lee was a musician too), also does the town name start with "Li" which sounds just like "Lee"... Many buildings in that town have burned down, a symbol of how incisive the loss of this man is to us.

Find a collection of some of his best quotes at the end of this issue, from thoughtful to funny they cover all the many aspects of Sir Christopher Frank Carandini Lee.

Nai serë rainessë - May he rest in peace.

Project Progress

Andrast (In Progress) - Lead: @Tyranystrasz

A guarded pass over the White Mountains between the gondorian fief Andrast and Drúwaith Iaur has been merely finished, and named Fennas Forven, the northwards gate.
Additionally terrain work on Ras Morthil has continued and another small village (/warp Andovil2) has gotten some more love.

Anfalas (In Progress) - Lead: @otho

Not too much progress in Anfalas this week. The project is being taken over by @otho, who was actually supposed to be project leader in the first place. I will not be as active on it for the time being, due to my involvement in another aspect of MCME.
- DSESGH

Annúminas (In Progress) - Lead: @Fireinferno13 - Reporter: @Bilbo Baggins

Construction is now finished. Also, the process of ruining the palace has started. Bendy has started to ruin the front gates. Next, the process of ruining is coming down to the section of houses behind the palace. Finally, we need to start flooding, and when that is over, Annúminas can be called finished
- Bilbo Baggins
Bareketta (In Progress) - Lead: @kisos
Ruining is going slowly but steady. @thomasd16 finished up the walls this week and @BeatHeav3N is working hard as always on the project. A message to Artists: You're free to ruin any of the houses marked in green wool above it. Any one with ideas etc. Message me somewhere!
- kisos
Bree Tree Revamp (New | Finished) - Lead: @kisos & @Mandos
The mysterious tree-men have struck again! It's crazy how much better the town looks with proper trees!
Lamedon (New) - Lead: @_Luk
And again half of Gondor is covered in sand, but as we have proven multiple times already with Lossarnach, Lebennin and many other regions, a proper and thorough terrain makeover is completely worth it. Lamedon as another gondorian fief, nested between Andrast in the West, Anfalas in the South, Lebennin to the East and the White Mountains at the Northern border, wont be an exception to that.
Quite a large chunk of terrain has already been completed, again a guarded pass has been built, and a nice village with once more a very unique building style has been started.
Lothlórien Vegetation (In Progress) - Lead: @Eriol_Eandur
Ground Vegetations Jobs are going on in Lothlórien, but very slow as I was not much online during the last two weeks. Four sections of region 5 are finished now.
Last week @Finrod_Amandil spotted my secret underground river which is almost finished now, try to find it in south Lórien
Next week I want to speed up the work, expect jobs in Lothlórien every day around 20:00 GMT. You will need teamspeak for the jobs but no microphone.
- Eriol_Eandur
Misty Mountains (In Progress) - Lead: @Emilio_ & @Finrod_Amandil
@Emilio_ has continued working on Eregion, especially making the rivers there more beautiful, and rerouting some so that there will be enough space to fit in a new Hollin Ridge.

@Mandos is having a cameo appearance with revamping the Fords of Bruinen. You may ask yourselves, why we should revamp such a place. Answer is simply because the description of it in the LotR is very explicit, and not at all like it was before.

I myself have intensively been preparing the High Moors of Rivendell, so that I can start the first Concept Build (see below) to gain a nice style for it. The terrain there is closely following the detailed description found in the Hobbit.
Additionally I finally removed the road that led out of Rivendell at its backside, as again that was against the lore (defying the secret placement of Rivendell). If you read closely, even the dwarves of the Hobbit had to leave Rivendell the same way as they entered it.
Connected to that I along with the help of several people added a new road that will soon connect the High Pass to the rest of the Great East Road again. I especially want to thank @Ryiw who built the awesome bridge crossing the Bruinen.
Moria (In Progress) - Lead: @Despot666 & @Finrod_Amandil
Despot, with some other helping Artist hands, has completed the 3rd hall that he has started some weeks earlier. It is the second complete hall so far, so if you want to see the new dwarven pack in action, do /mvtp moria and fly right to the back end of the 2nd hall.

Even though Despot is definitely carrying the major load of the Moria progress himself while I am always busy with other things as writing the Times and taking care of the Themed Builds (and other stuff), I still dare critically judge and question his work. Thus I am currently looking for an alternate setup for the East Gate teleport area, mostly reasoned as the first version seems just a tad too hard to walk / climb through for that in the books this very last section of Moria has been described as being possible to cross fairly quickly and easy.
Pelargir (In Progress) - Lead: @Credoo - Reporter: @toeyoman
The theatre is complete and the people of Pelargir can finally be entertained! Its growing quickly with new progress being done on the city everyday. As well as lots more house building jobs run by @kisos! There are still some remaining houses in the Pelargir house build at /mvtp plotworld, /warp pelhouse!
- toeyoman

Public Projects:

Freca's Fortress (In Progress) - Lead: @Brazen_Helm
A lot of finishing touches and details have been added this week. We haven't yet come around working on the palisade trench but keep your eyes peeled for a job on it will be ran soon. There is still a house plot open for Artists to work on. Do /warp frecatemp if you want to take a look at the project.
- Ma5terMinD
Mt. Gram (In Progress) - Lead: @_Thijs1801 - Reporter: @Nic1337
The road leading to the main gate was done and the paths in the second cavern is now half done. Another part of cave has been finished with stone and the rest is still being worked on.

Media of the Week

@mattlego has created some far render shots around Annúminas and Lake Evendim. I have made such enough already to be able to tell that its quite some work, especially for ones PC (mine uses to sound like a plane engine when I have so many chunks loaded)

Find more in >>his thread<<.

Seemingly forgotten last week I have a collection of shots by @kisos. Take this one taken in Dol Ellyth, a town in Andrast:

>>More please!<<

And probably the highlight of this week's media action is a new face by the name of @ZeKorygan with new and fresh ideas for scenes. This shot below really blew my mind, as it shows how big Minas Tirith actually is compared to the Pelennor fields:

Force him to do more by liking and commenting on >>his thread<<!

And lastly, a contribution that very well has too deserved to be featured is @bender400's drawing of an epic battle between good and evil:

New! Concept Build (Like the Themed Build but different)

Concept Builds are the second new variant (beside Project Build) to the classic Themed Build.
These kind of Themed Builds, beside their traditional use, serve as either inspiration or even solution to a current style needed on the actual main map. The plots usually are smaller than normal Themed Build plots, as we really only look for a building style here.

I also highly encourage Artists to claim a plot and come up with a quick concept.

This week I am looking for style concepts for the High Moors of Rivendell.

New! MCME Activities - #1: Parkouring!

As the short stories are all over, it's time to place something new here. As mostly new players very often join the server hoping for an exciting job and then get dissapointed I will present through this format all kinds of other activities that can be done on our beautiful map. I have already collected quite some ideas, so this format will take this spot in the Times through most of the summer.

This week I present you a total of five locations that are perfect to parkour, so get from one to another spot using sometimes very tricky jumps and maneuvres. Usually there's only one way to complete the course. I divided them into three difficulties: easy, medium and hard. Whether you try to conquer these courses alone or challenge someone is up to you! Thanks to @Nic1337, @thomasd16 and @Ma5terMinD who helped me out testing the courses and making up even some new ones (Weathertop).

Closing Statement

There are many vampires in the world today - you only have to think of the film business.
- Christopher Lee
I was once asked what I thought was the most disquieting thing you could see on the screen and I said, "An open door."
- Christopher Lee
Somebody once asked me how I found Peter Jackson, and I said: 'Well, I parted his hair, and there he was.'

To be a legend, you've either got to be dead or excessively old.

You can learn Elvish, if you want. It's a language like Italian and English. You can learn to read it, you can learn to write it, and you can learn to speak it.
