~ Winners of “The Week” ~
So we got some good ones as always. Make sure you show some special recognition towards the winners of the week! They’ve presented exemplary displays of our server’s creative potential! Give a hand to these winners!

MEDIA OF THE WEEK:
Now, we have seen a lot of @RubenPieterMark’s renders of Helms Deep lately, but as I feel like he is going to move on and he just uploaded a new batch this past week I think we should mention one of his best. Great work @RubenPieterMark! (have you seen the people walking across the bridge?)

THEME-BUILD OF THE WEEK:
Due to the Dol Guldur project build we only have one winner this week and that award goes to… @FoolhardFish! It could still need some improvement but it’s by far the best one, great work @FoolhardyFish!

~ Lore of the Week ~
What's that in the sky?! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! It’s a dragon!:
We all know the princess tales where a buff and handsome knight needs to defeat a dragon so he can get the girl and live happily ever after… Just some lame stories! (If you disagree message me (Didi))
There were a few types of dragons, the first were known as the Urulóki (Fire drakes, Fire breathing serpent like dragons, some with wings and some without). Secondly, the cold drakes (Who could not breathe fire). Finally, the great worms (They were called so due to their lack of wings). Now this is all that the lore will tell us, I myself think that I can assume their shape but it is just my opinion, I think that the Fire Drakes usually did have wings and the only odd one out of the breed was Glaurung. Not a lot is told to us about the cold drakes, we know none by name but we do know that they could not breathe fire and I am assuming that their body was similar to the Fire Drakes. There is only one great worm that we know by name who is mentioned here, he had no wings and no legs making him a sort of a snake, it isn't told if their could breathe fire or not but I am assuming again that some could and some could not, I believe their weapon of choice was strangling their prey…
All of the dragons were bred by Morgoth in Angband, the dragons mentioned are few in number but deadly in nature. We know of five dragons and we will discuss all the details we know about them.
Glaurung The father of dragons and first worm that ever appeared in Arda is one of the greatest in the history of middle-earth. As Glaurung was the father of all dragons, Morgoth did not create him with wings (which is why he is known as a worm even though he is of the fire drake breed as he did breathe fire) as he would do with later dragons. The first time Glaurung was seen was by the Noldor under Fingon in the year 260 of the First Age, at the time he was about half the size that he would come to be in later days, during his first encounter with the elves he was pushed back by their strength but Glaurung recovered his strength and in the battle of the sudden flame and the battle of the unnumbered tears, Glaurung acted as a vanguard of Morgoth’s forces. Glaurung was only wounded after he fought very heavily armored dwarves, their king lightly wounded Glaurung before he was slain by the great dragon.
Glaurung led the assault on Gates of Nargothrond, and demolished the fortress, upon his exit he came across Túrin Turambar his mortal enemy to come (Who met the dragon after the destruction of the halls not during the battle). Glaurung froze Túrin in his place (The dragon’s stare was devastating and would make the one looking in his eyes freeze and or go insane as what happend with the daughter of Húrin) the dragon made him choose between saving his family or to try to rescue Findulas who was in love with him, Túrin chose his family but he swore to kill the dragon for his deeds. The dragon would do one last hurt to the family of Húrin by making his daughter lose her mind and marry her brother and then recover her memory after they wed. The despair she felt let her to commit suicide and after Túrin learned this; he took his own life after killing the dragon with his great sword (Gurthang) with one blow right in the beast’s stomach, the blood poured out of Gurthang’s stomach and it was filled with his poisonous venom which harmed Túrin and made him unconscious .

The next mentioned dragon of the First Age was the fire drake of Gondolin, and this was a creature that Morgoth employed to help conquer and destroy Gondolin. During the battle Tuor encountered the beast and using his great axe (Dramborleg) he hacked at the beast’s foot, Which caused fire to sprout out of the wound and killing him. The fire drake of Gondolin was the first dragon seen with wings.

The next mentioned dragon is the largest of all the dragons of Morgoth, his name was Ancalagon the Black. During the battle of the wrath and the end of the first age, Ancalagon was released upon the Valar and the Eldar, the great armies were kept at bay until Eärendil came, he was aided by the eagles and with their help he slew the mighty dragon (this took place in 587 F.A). It is said that he was between the size of a great ship and mountain.

The next named dragon came during the Third Age (He escaped the war of wrath), his name: Scatha, a great worm. Not much is known about the dragon but it is said that he killed Dain I and his son. Fram son of Frumgar killed the Worm in the year 2000 T.A.

The last dragon is the most famous one, Smaug was the greatest fire drake. He came from the north in the year 2774 T.A and took the lonely mountain from the dwarves. The dragon had such a big lust for gold, so when he entered the mountain he did not leave for 200 years until the company of Thorin awoke the dragon. The armor of the dragon was impenetrable and his only weakness was his stomach, but even that became hardened with jewels… Except for one spot. After Smaug’s conversation with Bilbo he was driven out of Erebor by the dwarves and he flew to Laketown so that he can destroy it, Smaug was later killed by Bard the bowman. It was only a lucky Black Arrow that could destroy the dragon, and it was not a ballista shot (as shown in the films).

Woop woop. Everyone’s favourite part of the times has returned again! Huzzah! We gotta kick off this with the usual twitter. Be sure to give us a “hello!” at MinecraftMiddleEarth (@MCMiddleEarth) | Twitter . Who knows, Cookies may be involved!

Twitter is not the most popular “social platform”, so for you “yooves” with a trendy Facebook account, try following us there too https://www.facebook.com/mcmeproject/

But of course, the most important and obviously most used social network is of course Planet Minecraft! Be sure to give us a diamond there. It costs nothing! Minecraft Middle Earth Minecraft Server

(What do you mean Snapchat is more popular than Planet Minecraft of course it isn’t)

Artist
Ahh yes. We all know the question. “How can I build”. As well as “You can try a theme build” and “You can take part in jobs”, the other answer is “Apply for Artist”, and the last option is by far the most exciting. Being able to build in your favourite places all the time. Sounds awesome. We can never have enough Artists, and with a wide range of current projects, there’s plenty for you to do!
Are you inspired by joining MCME’s main build rank? You can apply for Artist today on the forums! The Lead Builders, Designers and current Artists will work with you and help you on your journey.

Guide
Or perhaps, you’re not a builder. Well. That’s not a problem! Becoming A guide is obviously the better option anyway. As a Guide, you’re the forefront of MCME, and there’s no greater feeling than when someone says your tour was awesome. You don’t actually have to be a lore nerd either, you’ll pick up on lots really quickly.
When you join the Guides, you’ll be giving tours, running minigames and testing players in lore quizzes, or if you prefer less “on the spot” stuff, Guidebooks are obviously your zen, or helping to tell MCME about MCME by writing up articles in the times. You’ll also plan help plan events such as The Summer Events and The Anniversary Events. We hope you join us soon, because us Guides really would love some more of us. What’re you waiting for?
Just click Guide and apply today!

~ Guide of the Month ~
By Arkengarde

Howdy folks! Arken here! Before we end off this edition, I’d like to implement a new, monthly segment to The Times. As you all have probably read, the Guides are responsible for fulfilling monthly requirements to maintain their position on MCME. I implemented this soon after being promoted to Head Guide as a way to keep the idea that “Guides are useless” well tucked away. To see what exactly these requirements consist of, click the link below!

Anyhoo, the Guides will earn points for achieving what they need to each month, and the Guide with the most points at the end will be recognised as the Guide of the Month!
For September, our Guide of the Month is someone I chose to be my Assistant for their integrity, creative intuition, skill level, and overall awesomeness. Since becoming the Guide Assistant, he has maintained his new duties at such an amazing level on top of exhibiting exemplary Guide-like qualities every time he logs onto MCME. You may know him as the co-founder of our beloved “Untamed” series, but may I finally introduce the September Guide of the Month: @Raffyyy !!!!!! Make sure to give him a big congratulations when you see him around

~ Closing Statement ~

Again sorry for such a delay, it will be a lot easier for me to post the MCME Times from now on with using the direct code which forums processes. The staff team love the support we get, and we hope to make MCME the best it can be. The current progress seems to be improving slightly, the more the merrier!

Great job for the Times Team, who did what they had to do, great job!
