__Opening Statement
It has been a good while since the last MCME times due to my absence and the fact that afterwards I had to do some catching up with school. Thankfully I have found some time to work on a new edition of the MCME times this week. The missed editions were of course very sad but they did show some flaws in the way the times is produced. As such I'll be asking some questions about the future of the times in a later segment. For now though, sit back and read up on the not so recent happenings.
__Project Progress
Annúminas (In Progress): The wall layout and roads have been fixed and should be done now. Unfortunately there's not much going on in Annúminas for non Artists, as both the ruining jobs in the flooded part of the city and building jobs in the military district are for Artists only. However, if you ask @Wollip666 really nicely he might just start a job for you.
The northern part of the flooded district is now finished. If you want to brush up on your underwater archealogy now is the time. It's a quite interesting part of Annúminas, very different from the usual builds we have on MCME.
Dol Amroth (In Progress): Dol Amroth is shaping up quite nicely. Construction on houses has begun and if you want to help out you can. There is a guide on how to build in the style of DA houses here, it will also tell you where to build them. If there's any Artists reading this, if you too want to build some houses for Dol Amroth, make sure you do it at the correct location too. For planning purposes construction on site has been curbed.
Harithilien Part 3 (Finished): The work in Harithilien is finished. With the completion of the villages, roads, and watchtowers the job's now done. Special recognition goes out to the projects leader: @iSMiTHz and those who played big parts in the projects development: @oth0116, @SugarKoala and @wodleth.
Linhir (Planning): @oth0116 and @KlemensPlusLukas have started making plans for the town of Linhir, with the help of @wodleth. The concepts look pretty cool, and the wool outline they have placed on the main server is pretty detailed. If you want to get an idea of the layour of the future city take a look around. The way to get there is /warp Lintemp.
Misty Mountains (In Progress): A lot has happened in the Hithaeglir, most notably could the terrain at the Moria West Gate be completed. A big thank goes to the many many people that helped in any way, but especially to @Jetfire301 who came up with a purely amazing bridge design, but also Kisk, Ivan and monty for the Tower and the Gate trees. Enjoy that bridge from its most epic perspective by warping to /warp Stair Falls, or dare going right to the shores of the eerie gate lake using /warp Moria West Gate. No, theres nothing behind the gate yet, so no use in typing "mellon" in chat!
A bit more recently we made enormous progress on the central area of the mountains: Not less then 7 glaciers were built by hand in the past weeks, on one single night shift (up to 2:30 am for me) we did 4 glaciers, among them the biggest one ever made, in one sweep. We have many adventurers and artists among us that can call themselves "masters of the glaciers" now. To explore this area do /warp Silvertine.
Lastly I encourage everyone to participate in the ongoing contest for Durins Tower. Simply apply with your Team Name, Team Members and Plot Type >>here<<. The contest is still going until christmas evening (24th), so you should still have plenty of time to tune in. Do the best you can, because the best design will be placed in the Build Map and crown the whole Mountains of Moria!
Paths of the Dead (In Progress): @Despot666 had to leave for a bit because of real life obligations. Because of this @iSMiTHz will oversee construction in the last big city cave on his behalf. We'll have to see if Despot will be back before the project is finished or if it's finished under Smithz care. Either way I'm sure the end result will be great.
Osgiliath (In Progress): Roads, walls, and a part of the military section. That's all what's left according to the lovely wodleth. It's been one of the longest running projects in MCME's history for sure, but it's drawing to a close. @Tyrhanystrasz is giving it his all to try and finish the project before the next staff meeting; if you want to help out he will be running jobs tonight and tomorrow.
Miscellaneous:
@DSESGH is working on a new Deeping Stream. The digging of the main stream has been finished and it is ready for voxelling. Whether or not DSE will do the tributaries as digging jobs too is still undecided.
@Jetfire301 has finished his repair efforts on the Rammas Echor since the last MCME times was released. In this post he announces the happy news, it's a boy!
The shire tree project has been put on hold untill a new Designer has the time to help out with voxelling, worldeditting, and oversight.
__Media of the Week
@el_schnarcho has created a frankenstein screenshot of the recently finished Harithilien. If you are interested in the combining of different pictures and the after effects that went into the picture check out schnarcho's post.
Harithilien
__Status Updates
Promotions:
SugarKoala has made the switch from Designer to Enforcer, a fine choice Lizzy, a fine choice.
Resignation:
Tryfor34 rose from the ashes as a pheonix only to fly right into the ceiling fan, he will be sorely missed.
__Future of the MCME Times
Hello beloved people of MCME.
In the opening statement I talked about possible changes to the MCME Times format. I have discussed this with @Fireinferno13 before, and my recent absence showed some flaws that will definitely need fixing. Because of this, in the staff meeting next week, we will be talking about the MCME times and possible changes in the way it is written/produced and possibly in it's contents. The people who will be discussing these changes are all staff though and therefor I want to ask for your opinions and suggestions, the people who actually read the times for info and/or enjoyment.
Possibilities include less frequent releases, or continueing with the current release frequency with added content to pad out editions during slow weeks on the main server. There could be some extra writers to write new segments or help out with the current segments. One thing that is fairly sure is the addition of some sort of back up system to make sure that if I am suddenly unable to be here for an extended period of time someone else can write and release an edition of the Times.
__The secrets of Khazad-dûm
Last week we ended the tour in the Meeting Hall and that's where we're starting off this time. Warp Khazad-dûm to get there. When you're there take the tunnel that goes west-wards in the meeting hall. You should be facing it.
The Twin Halls
The Twin Halls are two small halls that are side by side and very similair in appearence, hence the twin halls. Unfortunately there is not much to be found lorewise about these halls. We will travel through the first hall and into the second one, taking a left and entering the tunnel at the south end of the hall. Follow it all the way untill you reach the end.
The Barracks
The tunnel ends in the Barracks, take a look around and explore. There are three levels with many side rooms that range from living space and sleeping quarters to kitchens and mess halls. Speeking about mess halls, if you've finished looking around in the Barracks we can move on to another mess hall, one you've passed already.
If you enter the tunnel opposite the one you entered the Barracks from, and take the first left you can you will find yourself in a pantry. This pantry was used to stock foor for the mess hall that is next to it. You can find it by going through the pantry and into the tunnel on the other side, the tunnel you've used to travel from the Meeting hall to the Twin Halls. If you go left the first entrance on your left will lead to a mess hall that was used occasionaly by some of the higher ups in dwarven society. They would sit on the throne and look down on their dwarcen minions.
To get back to the meeting hall simply exit the mess hall and take a right. We'll continue our tour from here next week, taking a look at the hall of scribes and a dwarven mansion, which will have some interesting lore attached to it. I hope you enjoyed this look on two parts of Khazad-dûm that are sometimes overlooked in tours.
__Community Outreach
MCME Podcast: @rcpopcornman is running an unofficial podcast. If you listened in during the livestream, brilliant! If you missed it you can watch it back later, a vod should be uploaded by Tuesday. You can discuss it HERE.
Facebook Page: Have you checked out the MCME Facebook page? It is updated almost daily and provides not only great updates on the server, but also top screenshots, builds, promotions, and more! In other words, be sure to like us HERE.
Planet Minecraft Page: As stated before, please vote for us every day HERE. This helps draw attention and commemoration towards the server and is really appreciated by the community. So do your part and support MCME!
Times Feedback: Have a thought concerning the presentation of the MCME Times and how it can be improved? Because I am always looking for new ways to mix up and improve the Times experience through any means necessary and, if you have a comment or concern, it's likely that someone else had it as well and just didn't say anything about it. So be sure to message me your thoughts on the forums.
__Closing Statement
And that is most of what happened in these last weeks without Times coverage. I hope next week I'll be able to bring you some more info on these possible changes that might come to the Times. Hopefully they'll fit in with you guys' suggestions.
I'm going to leave you with a quote from Anne Frank.
I think that's definitely true, and make use of it everyday of my life. (I have a rather grumpy family, those bastards)Whoever is happy, will make others happy too.
