~The MCME Times~ [03/12/17] Project Progress

The Official MCME Times

Welcome Back!
Wait no more! It’s finally here! We have heeded your cries and now humbly present to you:

Editor's Note by BWOT

It’s been awhile but we’re finally back! This week’s edition is brought to you by @BWOT , @Eriol_Eandur , @Arkengard and @Eldar_Telcontar . We have a lot of information for you to digest, so grab your favorite beverage, relax, and enjoy!

Before we really get into it, you should know we’ve decided to give The Times a few changes. Basically, the editions will come out every two weeks and contain much more information and variety. We are introducing the topics ‘Media of the Week’ and ‘Theme Build of the Week.’ Entries for which can be submitted to @BWOT on either Discord or forum PM’s. The Times will also include an exclusive interview with a random member (Commoner +) in each edition. Lastly, we’ll be resurrecting ‘Lore of the Week’ which will include lore surrounding one person and one place. There is a lot of work put into making The Times, so we hope you enjoy!

~ Project Progress ~

Andrast - Lead: @jacenpeter | In Progress

Report by BWOT

Jacen hasn’t had time to work on much recently. However, with matt, they were able to get some progress South of Iant Dirnen. Jacen was also able to squeeze a bit of grassing into his schedule. It's looking great guys.

Belfalas - Lead: @Darki | In Progress

Report by Eriol ft. Interview by Arkengerd

Arken: “Hey Darki, what’s the state of Belfalas at the moment?”

*Darki left the game*

Arken: Okay... Thomas, what can you tell me about the current progress in the region of Belfalas?

Thomas: Well… Darki AFK’d on a hill a bit...

After further investigation, we’ve found this region is well on its way! A lot of progress has been achieved on terrain. We are approaching the Great Desert of Belfalas from all sides now. Terrain around Ironmere is almost finished. Terrain smoothing plotbuild is going on next to Greymane Castle, @slaMoria is working in the north and I (Eriol) am voxelling near Dol Amroth. I fear we will miss my goal to finish terrain this year, but we’ll get near. Special thanks to @Darktempliers who did a crazy amount of terrain smoothing.

Also many streams between Ironmere and Linhir were finished over the last few weeks, currently @Miiil is working on the largest stream of eastern Belfalas.

A rebuild of Ironmere has been started last week. The old Ironmere, was a very good step towards dense city housings. But it looked quite weird with the large fields of Belfalas all around. @thomasd18 is now aiming for a more credible small town.

Dol Amroth - Lead: @Thijs1801 | In Progress

Report by Eldar_Telcontar

Since our last installment of the Times, Dol Amroth has made another big step forward towards completion. Sea Town is now nearly complete, with the last few guilds and houses being checked over by our hard-working team of artists and foremen. The planning for Gem Town (led by Designer Kjol) and Royal town (led by Designer BWOT), the two upper districts of DA, has also started. You’ll find the usual wool markings appearing around where houses and roads will be built. New Town (led by Designer BWOT) has been put on hold until Gem and Royal Town are finished.

Designer Matt and Designer BWOT are also working on the Military Fort and new plans and ideas are being implemented.

Dol Amroth’s ‘underground’ has also seen some changes! Our favourite Designer, @BWOT, is leading work in the complex (5 clean water leveled and 2 dirty water leveled) sewer system criss-crossing Dol Amroth.

The Citadel of Dol Amroth has also had some alterations made, with the innermost curtain wall being made slightly shorter, and the transition between the military keep and the palace made much more distinct.

Quote from Bart: "I'm proud to announce that Seatown is ready. Under the lead of @Lindolas and me as co-worker we've made a pretty neat part of Dol Amroth in my opinion. Unless @Thijs1801 decides to remove all of it it should be completly finished after he gives us feedback." 03/12/17

Mordor Terrain - Lead: @Tyranystrasz | In Progress

Report by BWOT
I think it's best to just show this:

BWOT: “Any progress you can give me for Mordor terrain, Tolfalas or Norman lands?”

Tyran: “Nope”

BWOT: “Well at least it's short and sweet”

The Noman Lands and Dagorlad - Lead: @Fireinferno13 | In Progress

Report by BWOT
Progress has been slow here due to school season at its full power. Hopefully we will see some new updates soon. #keepthehypeup

Moria - Lead: @Despot666 | In Progress

Report by BWOT
Lots of progress since
last update for sure; more halls, tunnels and yeah…. more halls. However, these halls are looking great, especially the connecting one with all the statues. This area is led by @Patrick and can be found near the Central Dwelling. Go take a look at all the work many artists have done.

Also news flash, @Despot has been planning something big in a neighboring hall (right above the 2nd), so far it looks epic. Some artists have branched a bit off from this area and are working on halls around the Great Shaft. @BWOT and @Credoo have been helping around here and there.Another news flash.. @Jesia is now a designer and is now speed building one hall after another. So, expect some big things to be coming soon.

Tolfalas- Lead: @Tyranystrasz | In Progress

Report by BWOT
It’s beautiful! It's looking great! But because of one busy Tyran; it’s not quite finished. That said, if you haven’t checked out Tolfalas yet, you really are missing out on some excellent building!

~ Texture Development ~
Report by Eriol

A major update of the Gondor 2 pack used in Dol Amroth was released some weeks ago. The main purpose was to reduce the amount of item blocks. Many item block textures were relocated to normal blocks. This needed some trade-offs of course. For some blocks the hit-boxes are now not matching the textures very well. Another change needed us to replace all doors at the entire map with powered doors. In this way half doors can now have independent textures from full doors and we were able to move some frequently used item block textures to these half doors. At all we managed to cut the amount of item blocks roughly by half without setting any textures aside.

~ Plug-in Development ~
Report by Eriol

MCME-Architect

Some minor updates of Architect plugin has been released over the last weeks. You can now get custom shields with patterns copied from a banner and stack half and full doors to get operable 3 block high doors. Also there is now an inventory opener item you can use to open a custom inventory and also to pick custom blocks. These features are explained in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6GtXMs-8dI&t=15s. Another update is underway which will enable you to choose the side of the door hinge by clicking left or right half of a block.

ChunkAnalysis

To replace all the normal doors with powered doors at the entire map my ChunkAnalysis plugin was installed at the build server. It can execute block replacement tasks in huge areas like all of Gondor or even the entire map. It's designed to not cause lag and pick up a tast after a server crash or restart at the last position. We are going to use this plugin to change all of Gondor to the Gondor 2 rp currently used in Dol Amroth only.

VoxelSniper MCME edition

Aside of Architect plugin I'm working on a special edition of VoxelSniper for MCME which features a ruin brush: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyqGsW7760w

MCME-Perks

Perks plugin featuring horses and other cool perks is still a thing. But not much progress there as I'm too busy with real live and all the stuff above.
