So I decided some months ago to start to put together a songbook of various songs from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and it's now completed, or as completed as I can make it with my current knowledge at least. It contains most, if not all of the songs from the books that I could find and a few from other adaptations as well. So all in all the songbook contains 51 songs in total.
Now some may call what I'm about to tell you next for blasphemy but I did add verses from various adaptations to some of the original songs to extend them and to make them more recognisable to fans of the movies as well. But I hope you lore purists can oversee this.
Oh and to not make the songbook too long I decided to limit it to only include the songs and verses that are in fact songs so no poems in this songbook.
I hope you may enjoy.

This is fantastic! How long did this even take though?
Depends. How you count it. I've worked on it from time to time for the last six months or so now but only like in batches of a couple of hours every few weeks or so. Formatting it all took by far the longest (like four or five hours in total)

Hmm... so I just realized I've made an error in it. It says that a single asterisk (*) by the song name means that it originates from an non-canon adaptation but there is one song (Bilbo's Last Song) where I've marked it with an asterisk (*) for being a non-canon song but whilst it is non-canon it's not from a different adaptation as it was Tolkien himself who wrote it in one of his letters to one of his fans.

Btw. If anyone of you know of a song from the books that I have missed please tell me and I'll try and fit it into an updated version of this. As for songs from the movies I've included those I deemed fitting (for instance I did not include the credits songs from The Hobbit movies as I feel they're too modern for the Middle-earth setting) but if you can think of a fitting song from the movies that are not already included in one way or another I may add it.

If anyone is interested I will start working on a second edition of the Middle-earth Songbook once I have finished reading The Lord of the Rings (I have as of right now 44 pages left) but this time I'll use the song index I found in the Appendices so that I for sure will include every song in the books. Even the lesser known ones that can't be easily found on the internet.

When this new edition will be done I can't say since I'll most likely have to transcribe some of the lesser known songs manually and I will be working towards including every song in the whole legendarium as well and perhaps also every song from the Peter Jackson movies, so don't expect it to be done anytime soon. However since I already have most of the songs already it'll probably not take as long as the first edition took.

Awesome! Are you going to take them all from the internet? Because I can do a little bit of music if we have to make one ourselves.
(ps. by a little bit I mean I already study music for about seven years now)

No it's a songtext book. So there's no music needed but thanks for the offer.
