II have participated in the Bag End theme build and the Barad Nimras theme build which is the one pictured above.
Picking a style that I like to build in is kind of tough for me seeing that these are the only builds I have done. The Elven style is challenging but quite fun to build with but I think I am most interested to build in a Dwarven setting. This is mainly due to the fact that when I build homes in minecraft outside of the server, I carve them into the sides of mountains or make them directly in the mountains. I cant really put a finger on it but something about building into mountains is just appealing to me.
I am applying for artist because I want to help the server at a higher capacity than I am now. I want to get past the limits of being an adventurer and work on more jobs in addition to the theme builds. I know I'm probably most likely at a disadvantage due to my inexperience on the server and just how long I have been on it, but I figure I might as well give this application a try. If I'm not accepted ill still try my best to improve as a builder and contribute to the server in any way I can. If I am accepted, well great, I would be excited for a new challenge. I trust that whoever is reading this will make the decision they think is best for me at this point.

Thank you for your application!

There's really a lot of very nice aspects to your Barad Nimras TB! You have chosen the materials very well so that it still looks white enough to be called the "white tower", but also has enough other colors to it to not look boring. The shape of the tower has something strange to it and I can not really grasp it right now; I think it is to some extent because of the roof though; I think you should make the roof part more distinct from the wall part, best using shingles.

I really would like to see some more builds of you! We can ask @Ivan1pl whether he could make as a quick exception a dwarven TB next week, I think we haven't had a TB with the Moria pack in a while, maybe Chamber of Mazarbul, Durin's crossroads or something along these lines?

Yeah that would be pretty cool! I see now how a roof would be pretty good for the tower. Looking forward to doing some more theme builds However im currently busy with mid term exams so I might not get the current theme (Ethring) done. I'll try my best though. I'll post another application in a couple of weeks to see if my building skills have gotten any better. Thanks for the advice

Hey Daebric,

you don't need to make a new application. Just add more pictures here. Also don't worry about missing a Themed-build. We all (hopefully) have a real life. Do you know that you can still continue old Themed-builds? Just add the roof of the tower when you have some time.

Hey, this week was the Chamber of Mazarbul theme build and I decided to build it as it was before Balin died. (When they were recolonizing moria.) Unfortunately I didn't finish the floor really or furnishing the place but I did spend a ton of time constructing the walls and ceiling. I'm hoping you guys can give me some tips on how to make it more dwarven looking or just make it look better in general. Thanks
P.S. I have no idea what the dwarven word says I just added it there because I thought it would be a good addition.

Also I almost forgot, I should probably say that I've worked on some jobs since the last time I posted here. Fireinferno was doing a ruining job in moria so I helped out with that. Then in northern belfalas Thomas was making a stream and I helped in constructing that. Then finally Eaglz did a terrain job recently, (also in northern belfalas) and I assisted him there.

Hey Daebric,
sorry for the delay. I was very busy.

The word at the wall means "Balin" its the beginning of the inscription on his tomb in the Chamber of Mazarbul. As the dwarven colony was destroyed quite soon after his death the dwarfs probably not have written his name high up at the wall. But don't worry, such lore details are not important for Artist applications.

You already put a lot of effort in your Chamber of Mazarbul, very nice. Here are some ideas how to improve it:
  • The floor looks very empty and uniform. Try to add some nice floor patterns and some stuff /rubble to make it more interesting. Think about the purpose of the chamber. Gandalf called it "archive chamber". Also Balin set up his quarter there when he tried to regain Moria.
  • At the walls you repeat the same structures from floor to ceiling very often. It would look better to have less repetitions and a bit more complex details.
  • I miss arches to support the ceiling. Typical for dwarfs are not round but angular arches with a lot of diagonal parts. To get an idea, walk around in Moria and pay attention to the arches there.
  • At the back your wall is a good start but you could detail it even more. A third layer of visible blocks would be good I think. Also you could try to make some fancy murals.

Thanks a lot! Yeah this build was a bit of a challenge since I made it a bit to big in my opinion. (Haha I bit off a little more than I could chew.) I'll make sure to take a walk around moria some more soon so I can check out those arches. I might even have some time to go back and fix some things if I finish my dwarves statue this week.
