• Welcome to MCME!

Minecraft Middle Earth is a Minecraft community that recreates the world described by JRR Tolkien and his writings. Everyone can participate in organized events in which we collaborate to create major landmarks, terrain, caves, castles, towns, farms and more.

Inviting YouTuber Keralis for a tour?

I just rlly dislike the idea of delaying again, like we've already done for one year.
I get it, but you dislike the idea because of your personal interest in it. You've waited a year and don't want to wait longer, even though it would be better. Yours is an understandable point of view, but a bad idea. Waiting for the Summer also has the advantage that there will be more jobs, something the new players would most likely enjoy.
Maybe a foreman or another can artist can learn the way of the trees so that'll be a larger project as well.
While we may need trees new players will be bored by building them, Moria is could also be a bit too repetitive for the new players.

If you look at the graph, there's always a big bottom in the summer, January-February has a peak.

Just because it will get fewer views doesn't mean you can rule it out, if it works better for the server and it's members, then that's the best time to do it.
I'd also like to point out that the videos may get fewer views than his previous MC videos because his fan base may not have an interest in Tolkien, and by extension MCME, he does have a few Tolkien themed builds but they're from four years ago. The most recent MC videos by Keralis(the most recent being 2 months old) have had significantly fewer views than his other videos and his last server tour was 3 years ago, of course that may not mean anything, maybe he couldn't find any 'cool' servers, however I take it to mean he stopped them because his audience didn't like it, they got bored they could still be.

This whole thing just sounds like this guy is your favorite YouTuber and you want to be able to go “I helped my favorite youtuber make a videooo” sort of situation

Ehm.. what exactly makes you think that? I spent like 200 lines explaining all the advantages, but it didn't say Keralis is my favorite YouTuber. Tbh I stopped watching YouTube 2 years ago so this rly isn't about me

This thread escalated quickly. If I somehow implied that I'm a Keralis fanboy: really the answer is no. I don't understand that people prefer to post videos on our own channel with 9K subs over a 1,8 million channel that's quite dedicated to architecture. It would be very nice indeed to have a 'MCME Walks' series, maybe a project for you and Thomas TI? But I think I have made my point of view quite clear so I won't add anything to that. Also Mandolore is looking into whether or not to delay it 6 months.

Yes, and we have some videos out, we can't have more until we're less busy. I guess it will have to wait. Maybe the ones that have been released already could be uploaded to MCME's channel.

I think we should search for more "fantasy/medieval" build style youtubers instead of Keralis which was more of a "modern house/mansion" sort of builder. For example, Welsknigh did a nice tours and he's also a Tolkien fan.

Also, from looking at his channel, he haven't posted a Minecraft video in 2 months. So idk if he still does Minecraft or not, but I'd personal like a youtuber who mainly posts Minecraft

There's plenty of jobs in Moria and I'm back at my treebuild. Maybe a foreman or another can artist can learn the way of the trees so that'll be a larger project as well.
For Christmas being busy: I planned starting preparing after Christmas and having the first tour somewhere in January. I just rlly dislike the idea of delaying again, like we've already done for one year.
I agree with bart and TI here. You ask that we should all be dedicated to show a whole wave of new players the best MCME got to offer... during a time of the year when we hardly have anything to offer and everyone is preoccupied in real life.
What's so wrong with waiting a few months with doing this unntil we have the capaciyu to do it properly? Doing it now would definitely just make it another Welshknight case where we gets lots of new players who comes on to see a server with hardly anything interesting to do and no one to properly show them the way of things. We're not in THAT desperate need of new players. Yes, the longer we wait the more of Keralis' minecraft fans may leave him if he have indeed stopped doing minecraft vids but unless you think he won't be interested in doing the tour in half a year's time then what's the problem in waiting until we can do this PROPERLY?
Ps. For the record I do agree with you about who should make the videos. Keralis seems like a good bet to me compared to doing it ourselves or trying to find someone else who is interested.

If if you ask me, any time is the "right" time. If we want more people we simple need to start advertising more. The sooner the better. I for example, found out about this server through youtube quite some time ago. Any new player who is interested or not will stay here or not and it doesen't matter when he joins for the first time. It's more important to target the right youtubers/streamers and doing it more frequently.
