~Update~
And we are back!
It has been a crazy few weeks since the Great Forums Crash, however, the forums are now running better than ever! And in case you did not notice, I am not, in fact, Bevs! So until further notice, the weekly announcement job is now mine to torment! Whether that is a good thing or bad thing, we will have to wait and find out! But until then, here is the update for the past few weeks and a highlight of what is to come! I am hoping to post these "MCME Times" every sunday morning when I wake up, so it will be like reading the sunday paper but better.
~Projects~

  • Ost-In-Edhil (Finishing Touches): @MaDIIReD worked hard the weeks to get the majority of this project out the door, ruins and all! If you see him, be sure to congratulate him and those who worked on it for a job well done! I posted a screenshot thanks to @freshmilkymilk to highlight the beautiful build!
  • Minas Tirith (In Progress): As I am sure many of you know, the White City has begun construction thanks to the combined efforts of @Credoo , @Despot , and @Homie . Be sure to check out their project post on the forums for more info!
  • Pelannor Fields (In Progress): The last few projects will be running shortly to finish up the beautiful farmlands thanks to @@wodleth et al. Stay tuned!
  • Gondorian Villages (In Progress): There are still some more villages to be done thanks to @Glovenator ! Be sure to look for project leaders in this area if you want to build a house or such.
  • Osgiliath (On Hold): This project will resume with the return of Ryan so make sure to keep an eye out for a new project post or things to do online!

Have you checked out the Media section recently? @aaldim has been posting some great screenshots from around the server! Here is his Helms Deep screenshot!

~Status Updates~

Promotions:
Please congratulate @Despot on his promotion to Artisan this week! A great accomplishment for a wonderfully talented builder!

Also, please congratulate @iDwarf and @Ivan1pl on their promotions to Artist this recently! Very well deserved to the both of you!
Resignation:
I would like to take a minute and thank @Brazen_Helm for his time as Artisan on MCME as he has resigned recently to real life commitments. Brazen always brought a beautiful sense of detail and style that not many could match. Good luck in your other adventures!

I would also like to dedicate a bit to @BevsForBros who resigned from Valar recently, as some of you may know, due to in real life commitments. Bevs was a valued member who not only brought an extremely high level of talent, but also a great sense of humor and personality. Bevs had been here and active longer then most members. Luckily for us, the impact of Bevs will never be lost, upheld in the beauty of sites like Rivendell, the Beacon Hills, Rauros, the Argonanth, Emyn Muil, and many others that I could list on and on about. So again, you will be missed Bevs but we wish you well in your adventures and hope you will visit sometime soon!
~The Community~
Have you updated your Resource Packs recently (as in like the past 24 hours)? @meggawatts added some amazing title screens thanks to a submission by @ScoobyDeezy , one of our many talented graphic designers. Be sure to download them here and check it out!

Themed Builds are back! If you have been waiting on a new themed build, then your wait is over thanks to the work of @@MaDIIReD who has posted a new main and optional themed build for the community! It will be fun so be sure to participate this week!

Have you liked our Facebook page? Did you know we have a Facebook page? Either way, go check it out here for more information. Pictures and update posts are added here to keep the community informed, plus a simple like is always a great sign of support!

PVP is now up and running thanks to @dags_. More information is to come, however, for now feel free to log on with friends when the server is open and battle it out on some of our more famous build sites with swords and bows and much more! IP: pvp.mcme.co

~Meet the Staff~

We are introducing a new concept called "Meet the Staff" where each of the staff members of MCME has filled out a document about themselves and their time at MCME to give you a little idea of how we tick. This week I figured I would share with all of you a little about myself given the fact that I will be doing these community announcements from now on at this point. Enjoy!

Current Rank Held: Foreman
Age: 19

How did you find out about MCME and when did you join?

There are few things that cause me to fangirl, some of those things include Game of Thrones, Marvel, Parks and Rec, Archer (you get the point). However one of my original favorites had always been Lord of the Rings. This borderline obsession began when I was just 8 years old, watching the movies for the first time on a sick day. At first I was not a fan of Minecraft however over time I became a fan of it not too long ago, always thinking to myself that there must be something I am missing and, sure enough, I stumbled on MCME, early in 2012 but I believe my whitelist application was rejected and I didnt find it again until later that fall to which I became an active member in the community despite the lull in the server itself.

What was it like when you were a thrall/commoner (droog/member)? Any nostalgic moments?

I like to pride myself in never having been “that thrall” who posed annoying questions all the time or bothered people obsessively. Many a times were spent hanging with some of the older rangers such as Speedy, or even members like Muteberlin et al, building houses for Fornost and roaming freebuild. One memorable moment was the great feedback I received from Marozzo, Credoo, and CaptainDagless in terms of my building abilities as a thrall as it was what pushed and encouraged me to become better at it and pursue a higher, more flexible rank.

What was the first staff rank you got? Why did you apply/shoot for that rank in particular?

My first and only staff rank has been Foreman which I do quite enjoy. I always enjoyed helping people on jobs and organizing/participating in the larger projects so getting a staff rank opened an amazing door for me in that it allowed me to help the community and not just myself. Plus it gives the perfect balance between basic jobs where I get to teach newer members the ropes and more complex work to which I can apply my skills.

Is there any type of architecture or server job that you enjoy working on the most? Why?

I really enjoy it all with the exception of creature builds. I hate creature builds. Though I enjoy running road jobs, especially on mountains and hills as they are somewhat repetitive but also extremely complex.

What is your favorite thing about MCME?

Oh the people for sure, the reason I stick around this community is because of the people as we bring together so many awesome cultures and nations where it doesnt matter if you are British or Dutch or even Canadian (though I hesitate with that one haha), you can be friends on the server and have awesome experiences. And if not, watching you get banned is always quite fun just the same!

Do you have any other hobbies outside of MCME (besides MC and gaming)?

Im a pretty social character outside of MCME as many of you may know from my weekend affairs that occasionally bleed into my minecraft playing. Otherwise I enjoy playing tennis, running, and yoga, I also play piano and paint, and I am an Xbox gamer deep down as much as it may pain some of you. Im also a foodie and movie junky as well. And when I am not doing any of the above, I am usually being a full time college student! Currently considering a neuroscience major and potentially a philosophy minor but who really knows!

~Closing Statement~

And so here we are, the first community post since the crash! Hopefully all of you enjoyed this post and found it informative about what is happening in the community! As this was my first time, if you have any comments, questions, concerns, or feedback, please be sure to either post it here or message me personally on the forums as it is much appreciated! Otherwise, have a wonderful day!

I love this! Any form of learning what's going on in mcme that I my not know is a good and useful tool.... You wrote it very well and I hope you continue! Thanks for the time Fire :D

We also had the resignations of Fornad and muteberlin since this last updated. Just thought that should hold some importance in being mentioned regarding how much work they've also contributed to our server.

You could also perhaps mention the warps to the work in progress projects and you've also typed a couple of double @s. (I also don't understand why the MCME Times image doesn't have an transparent background)

Either way, excited to see this back as it really keeps us in the loop. c:

I will add warps next week (thanks for the suggestion)

I will try and fix the transparent background as well for next week

Also, I wanted to mention about Fornad and Mute but I actually maxed out the characters of the post! So something had to be cut unfortunately.

So here is a little blurb:

Resignations:
@muteberlin , who resigned from Ranger, was personally one of my closest friends on MCME and seeing him succeed and blossom as ranger was always a wonderful thing to watch. His contribution was valued across the community and it is good to see that he has remained with us even after resigning. Thanks mute for your contributions then and now!

@Fornad , the king of the lore, I dont think anybody can doubt the immense knowledge that this Ranger had when it came to all things Lord of the Rings and beyond. His impact was extremely valuable amongst the community as an influential guide and contributor to all aspects of MCME. I can only hope he stays around after his resignation, but otherwise, best of luck to your endeavors!

Noooooooo!:(

Thanks for the dedication Fire, and thanks for taking this up in my absence, you did an awesome job!

Also, I recently had an urge to finally finish up the adventure map that I had thrown on the back burner. I'm not promising anything, but I might spend some time soon to finish that up, since I don't have a whole lot of work to do until exams in a month.

No trouble at all, must say that I enjoy this kind of thing :)

Will a new vala/valar (just wondering, is the name "valar" following proper grammar or is valar singular on here instead of vala?) be elected to replace @BevsForBros ?

I believe there's currently not a place trying to be filled but people will be promoted if needed/if they deserve it. We don't really mind if you use Valar or Vala (though I prefer Vala).

It would be nice if this could be emailed out to all the members without having them watch the forum. It would be like having a proper newsletter :D

You can click watch thread in the top right and there should be an option to receive email notifications.

I have done that; I just think that it would seem more official as a newsletter sort of thing.
Though I think this is a very creative idea, Im not sure this would be as effective (though it may seem more "official"). A lot of people do not check their email or would mark this as spam, plus we dont really have a "mailing list" per say so not sure how we would go about it there.

Either way, the forums topic also allows people to comment on this and such, we have had some interesting discussions in the past thanks to the topics to which the MCME Times brings up. In other words, having this in a public setting allows for group discussion/involvement which is always good.

In my opinion, this would be a bit weird, but I do agree that it would seem more official. If you think about it, organizations that use email for communications send their newsletters by email. However, we use these forums for our communication, so it's more fitting that we would use the forums for our newsletters.

I clicked Meh, thinking that my opinion of The Sunday Times, which I had never read before, would most certainly change after reading this. However, I cannot change my vote. ;p

10/10 would certainly click Good! as of now. ;p

What time do you wake up and what time zone are you in?
Currently I alternate between an East and West coast time zone (college and home) and wake up in the late morning for the most part.

I will either be posting these when I wake up on Sunday, or before I go to bed on Saturday so that it is there for when everybody else wakes up. I will likely have a routine in the next coming weeks, it will just take a few to figure out what will work best. So stay tuned!

We did have a mailing list in the past but it was neglected and stopped because people lost interest. I think because of the abillaty to respond to forum threads, it makes the current format more lively and retains peoples attention. It's also a heck of a lot easier than using mailing lists.

Great job fire, I love it.
